The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has guidelines regarding endorsements and testimonials to protect you from misleading advertising that’s been paid for by a company.
I started blogging on The Bike Crank as an outlet for my anger when crap I paid a lot of money for didn’t work right. Then I felt guilty because there are no perfect products so I try to not always be angry and write about stuff I like.
Since I write about stuff and companies sell that stuff I decided I may as well try to profit of those guys. If you click on a link and it goes to a retailer selling that thing and you buy that thing and if all the stars align and the tech works correctly I can get some money. It doesn’t cost you anything but I appreciate the support. It’s like giving a tip but it’s free.
Nobody pays me for the write ups. No one cares what I have to say. I write my opinions but I’ll take money where I can get it. Then I’ll use it to buy more stuff :-).
