The fight over public lands is ongoing. The leaders of the state of Utah think that public lands should be sold to developers, mining, oil and gas interests for the sake of more state revenue.
Personally, I’ve seen way to many no trespassing signs, defunct trails and fences or gates in my life to believe that the loss of any public lands is a good thing. I’ve seen wealthy individuals buy up the land at the gateway to larger public lands, fence it off and then win legal battles that shut down public access leading to a giant private backyard at the public’s expense. Locally, a favorite trail was shutdown because the land owner owned the 5 feet from the sidewalk to where the trail began and they grew tired of people accessing the trail and put up a fence.
We need to protect public lands and our access to them. Write your Senators, Representatives and Governors to let them know.
