With my Salsa Beargrease now sporting a brand new AXS GX transmission I was stoked to get out and play in the snow. Sadly, the experience started with me leaving the parking lot and immediately dropping the chain into the wheel. Some days don’t turn out the way you think it will. With blue skies and nice temperatures on a November day I thought I’d do my typical ride – 4 loops and a couple of hours. I need to buy lights. The time change means it now gets dark at 5pm. Still real dirt and mud and cold make for a great way to spend the waning moments of the day. There was a bit of grease here and there but overall a bit of time on a real bike in real dirt made me feel like a real boy again.
It’s November in Northern Utah. That means it could be 30 degrees with feet of snow or sunshiney and a balmy 65 degrees. It’s the first one right now and I’m adding an extra ten pounds in gear to keep me from freezing to death. The ride – Providence Canyon
