Paradise

This is my usually training ride. Most of the journey is devoid of cars and populated by the nicest, best people. It’s not all Paradise. There’s also a bit of a climb into Blacksmith Fork Canyon that I include with each ride.

  • Raspberry Hunting
Not that I enjoy pain but a few hill climbs never really hurt anyone. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Stop and Go
Got stung by a bee. Stopped to pick out the stinger. Took a photo of some Llamas. Got stopped by phone calls. Lot’s of stopping and a little bit of climbing today. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Feels like Fall
I suck at mornings and the required early morning rides to avoid the heat are quickly coming to an end as the chill of Fall takes over the early morning hours. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Running out the meter
Sometimes it is about the numbers. I was so close to 50 miles as I got closer to home that I couldn’t help but throw on a few miles. The problem is that all the roads are torn up or covered in mud because they were recently torn up. After dodging the junk I scored an extra mile and crossed the 50 barrier. Then I

  • Riding after Covid is such a drag
I’ve been recovering this last week which means sleeping and generally living in a foggy haze. Fresh air and a nice slow ride helped to clear my brain a bit. Still, only a bit since this virus leaves you feeling unable to push hard. For the next few days I imagine I’ll be lollygagging along the highways. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time

  • And then my life flashed before my eyes
Coming into Paradise I stopped at the stop sign to wait for an oncoming car. I’m on a bike so I barely take up any space at all on the far right. Lucky for me I don’t unclip. Instead I hover and wait my turn. The white mini van turns my direction. When I say turns my direction they turn straight at me as in

  • Smells like raspberries
Passing through Hyrum, Utah the air is frequently thick with unpleasant smells as it is the home of a large slaughter house. Proceed south from Hyrum to Paradise and the air changes to cut hay. Keep on going and make the climb up raspberry hill to where Weeks raises their crop of the luscious little berry and you can’t gulp in the air fast enough.

  • It’s the climb
Time crunched again but not so much that I couldn’t pull off my favorite two Paradise climbs. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Finding myself at road ends
Road to the end of 6 roads this morning (or at least where the asphalt turned to gravel). It makes a cool pattern on Strava. I would like to have ridden to the of Blacksmith Fork but time always runs out. The ride – Porcupine Dam The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • By dawn’s early light
A week at a conference has me getting up a bit earlier I used the time to climb a bit more. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Climbing Paradise
Headed to InstructureCon today. With limited time I managed to get in a couple of climbs in Paradise. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Crushing grasshoppers, dodging ducks
I couldn’t go fast so I tried to go a bit further. The ride – Porcupine Dam The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
