Paradise

This is my usually training ride. Most of the journey is devoid of cars and populated by the nicest, best people. It’s not all Paradise. There’s also a bit of a climb into Blacksmith Fork Canyon that I include with each ride.

  • Color hunting
The colors have started changing in Logan Canyon. The ride – Paradise, Utah The bike – TIME VRS Fluidity
  • The tank is empty
Some rides require a lot of persuasion to keep my legs in motion. This was that kind of ride. Luckily the beauty of Logan Canyon is great motivation. The ride – Paradise, Utah The bike – TIME VRS Fluidity
  • Climbing things
What was intended as a short ride turned into a bunch of miles and a bunch of climbs during those miles. The ride – Paradise The bike – TIME VRS Fluidity
  • Paradise, Powerplant, Providence
Covering all the Ps this morning. I’m a wimp when it comes to the cold lately and was worried about freezing. Turns out it was a perfect temperature. I need to learn that Apple Weather is filled with lies. When the sun is out it is plenty warm even if my phone tells me the temperature is in the 50s. I ran into an invisible

  • Southern Cache Valley Wandering
The thermometer dropped from the 80s to the 60s this week so the mornings are cool. I put in a few miles before the sun starts cooking us again. The ride – Paradise and some other climbs The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Just enough time for Paradise
With many a Saturday chore ahead of me I woke up with just enough time to make a loop on the Time out to Paradise. Sadly, I will be off the bike for most of next week while I attend a work conference. I will miss my bikes. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Raspberry Hunting
Not that I enjoy pain but a few hill climbs never really hurt anyone. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Stop and Go
Got stung by a bee. Stopped to pick out the stinger. Took a photo of some Llamas. Got stopped by phone calls. Lot’s of stopping and a little bit of climbing today. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Feels like Fall
I suck at mornings and the required early morning rides to avoid the heat are quickly coming to an end as the chill of Fall takes over the early morning hours. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time VRS Fluidity
  • Running out the meter
Sometimes it is about the numbers. I was so close to 50 miles as I got closer to home that I couldn’t help but throw on a few miles. The problem is that all the roads are torn up or covered in mud because they were recently torn up. After dodging the junk I scored an extra mile and crossed the 50 barrier. Then I

  • Riding after Covid is such a drag
I’ve been recovering this last week which means sleeping and generally living in a foggy haze. Fresh air and a nice slow ride helped to clear my brain a bit. Still, only a bit since this virus leaves you feeling unable to push hard. For the next few days I imagine I’ll be lollygagging along the highways. The ride – Paradise The bike – Time

  • And then my life flashed before my eyes
Coming into Paradise I stopped at the stop sign to wait for an oncoming car. I’m on a bike so I barely take up any space at all on the far right. Lucky for me I don’t unclip. Instead I hover and wait my turn. The white mini van turns my direction. When I say turns my direction they turn straight at me as in
